The Gardens
Formal Garden
The Formal Garden is currently being restored and replanted. There was 20 foot leylandii hedge running the full length of the garden which has now been removed and replanted with a more sympathetic beech hedge.
Orchard
The orchard like many areas was in need to bring back into productive use. Apple, Quince, Damsons, Plums and Cherries have been tended to bring them back into production. The grass is left to meadow during the spring summer months
Front Terrance Parterres
The formal box hedging has been reduced in size over the past 3 years back to around 3 feet. The lawns and beds are being focused on in 2024/25 with new repairs and stoneworks
Kitchen Garden
The original kitchen garden is long gone, however images from the 1970's show how productive the garden was. Many areas are being restored to a more manageable kitchen garden.
Woodland Garden
Footpaths and planting has been restored and the whole areas has been cleared of brambles and saplings. New planting includes many shade lovers, such as acers, hostas and foxgloves
Courtyard Gardens
The stone planters which caused major damp problems against the house walls have been removed and the drainage in the courtyard repaired. The east area of garden will be renovated in 2025. The Bee Hives are productive and will be part of this restored area
